Politeknik Negeri Batam Holds International Conference on Applied Economics and Social Science 2019. 

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The International Conference on Applied Engineering (ICAE) is an annual international scientific conference on engineering organized by Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam).

Purpose of this conference is to showcase the results of applicative research conducted by researchers from various countries.

It has become a big issue among Indonesian researchers about the gap in research output between academia and industry.

It is hoped that with this conference synchronization and follow-up of research outcomes will be more applicable and useful.

In 2019, besides holding ICAE, at the same time, Polibatam also held a scientific conference in field of social sciences, namely The International Conference on Applied Economics and Social Sciences (ICAESS).

Both of these activities will be held because the collaboration between Polibatam and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Malaysia Serawak (UNIMAS), and Politekknik Negeri Bengkalis, Riau, Indonesia.

Aside from that, this activity was supported by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Nongsa Digital Park (NDP), BP Batam, and Harris Hotel Batam Center.

This conference will be held on 2 - 3 October 2019 at Harris Hotel Batam Center with the theme: Toward Industry 4.0. Total participants who will present the results of their research are 180 people from 11 countries.

Besides being attended by participants who will present their research results, Polibatam also invited a number of senior researchers and industry practitioners from various countries as keynote speakers, namely: Professor Jacky Baltes (Taiwan), Assist. Prof. WAKAMIYA Shoko, Ph.D (Japan), Associate Professor Dr. Intan Z. Mat Darus (Malaysia), and Mr. Fadli (Schneider-Electric, Indonesia).

The senior researchers will provide insight into the latest developments in research in fields that support Industrial Revolution 4.0.

In addition to attending scientific conference activities, the participants were also given the opportunity to visit Nongsa Digital Park (NDP) which is an integrated digital park that provides a place for digital businesses in Indonesia; and also to KINEMA, which is a studio where international filmmaking and editing, one of which is Hollywood films.
