32 Taiwanese and Chinese, the Perpetrators of Online Fraud was Deported From Indonesia

TRIBUNBATAM.id -  The TPI Batam Special Class I Immigration Office will deport 32 of 47 citizens from Taiwan and China, perpetrators of online fraud in Batam, Kepri.

Head of the TPI Batam Special Class I Immigration Office Lucky Agung Binarto said 47 foreigners from Taiwan and China were previously arrested and detained at the Barelang Police Station.

They were in Batam while doing the online fraud. Victims of fraud are not Indonesian citizens, but citizens of Taiwan and China.

From the results of the examination of Wasdakim Immigration Class I Special Staff TPI Batam, there are 32 foreign citizens declared unqualified in Article 122 letter a of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration so that prosecution cannot be carried out.

However, the 32 foreigners will be deported to their home country and their names will be on the list of deterrence. 

"They were immediately deported and we put on the deterrence," Lucky said during a press conference at the TPI Batam Class I Immigration Office on Tuesday (1/10/2019). 

While 15 other foreigners will be named as suspects, because they have violated the article of 75 paragraph (1) of the Law Number 6 2011 concerning the immigration, abusing the entry permits.

Before determining the suspect, the Immigration Service found two pieces of evidence and held a case with the Batam Prosecutor's Office and the Barelang Police.

When launching the action, the perpetrators are use a video call connections in social media applications. 

At present, there were only 15 foreigners from Taiwan have departed via Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

15 foreigners were deported on September 29, and their names were added to the list of deterrence to entering Indonesia. 

"We are still investigating for the others," said Lucky. (*)
