Indonesia's Strategy, Succeed in Making Singapore doin' a Closeout

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Indonesia's policy of developing the Bonded Logistics Center turned out to have an impact on Singapore, which is known as a logistics center in the Southeast Asian region.

The neighboring country even sells its warehouses so that entrepreneurs want to store their goods in Singapore. 

"If you check in Singapore, there are many warehouses whose terms are discounted," said Secretary General of the Indonesian PLB Association, Widiyanto, in Jakarta, Friday (10/4/2019). 

According to Widiyanto, the entrepreneurs actually bring their goods to Indonesia because of the availability of warehouses in Indonesia. They finally chose Indonesia.

He said, it happened since 2016 when the PLB was first developed in Indonesia. Even he said, the development of Indonesian PLB invited the protests.

Meanwhile, Head of the Logistics Association, Zaldy Masita said, the entrepreneurs prefer Indonesian PLB because the warehouses are in the country. 

In addition, the cost of renting warehouses in PLB Indonesia was also cheaper than in Singapore.

At present there are more than 150 PLB in Indonesia. This PLB functions as a temporary warehouses for goods to be sent both domestically and abroad. (*)
