415 Hotspots Still Appearing in South Sumatra, Palembang's Air is in the 'Unhealthy' Level

The distribution of hotspots per October 14, 2019 was renewed on Tuesday (10/15/2019), as many as 415 hotspots still appeared in various regions.

TRIBUNBATAM.id -  Forest and land fires in a number of areas in South Sumatra continue to occur today.

Based on the data from the Department of South Sumatra Regional Disaster Management (BPBD), the distribution of hotspots per October 14, 2019 was renewed on Tuesday (10/15/2019), as many as 415 hotspots still appeared in various regions.

The details are, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency with 247 hotspots, Musi Banyuasin (Muba) 52 hotspots, Banyuasin 41 hotspots, Muara Enim 21 hotspots, PALI 16 hotspots, North Musi Rawas (Muratara) 13 hotspots, Musi Rawas 7 hotspots, Ogan Ilir 6 hotspots, Lahat 4 hotspots, Empat Lawang 4 hotspots, Palembang 1 hotspot, East OKU 1 hotspot, South OKU 1 hotspot and OKU 1 hotspot.

Head of the South Sumatra BPBD Emergency Management Section, Ansori said, the number of hotspots was reduced, compared to Sunday (10/13/2019). Previously there were 741 of hotspots that scattered in various regions.

Ansori also claimed, today's smog wasn't as bad as yesterday because of the reduced number of the hotspots

Ansori said, nine units of water bombing helicopters have been also  deployed to extinguish the fire. In fact, one helicopter unit from Riau was sent to the South Sumatra to assist in the process of fighting the fire.

All outages now have been centered at Ogan Komering Ilir Regency.

"We also do the TMC, based on the predictions from BMKG, the potential for rain will occur on October 17," he said.

Meanwhile, monitoring of the Bmkg.go.id site, the concentration of particulates (PM10) in Palembang touched in the number of 792.67 micrograms per cubic meter at 04.00 a.m, so it entered a very dangerous level. 

Then at 11:00 p.m, PM10 decreased to 299.73 micrograms per cubic meter and entered in the dangerous level. (*)
