Dozens of Schools and Colleges Student Compete For ATB Scholarship

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Dozens of students from various schools and colleges in Batam compete to get scholarships from PT. Adhya Tirta Batam (ATB).

After passing administrative selection, they are now undergoing an interview process.

"This interview selection is a crucial stage. We see the prospective scholarship recipients have really prepared themselves well, "said ATB Head of Corporate Secretary, Maria Jacobus, Tuesday (10/15/2019).

Interview selection was held in the 7th floor Adhya Building at serbaguna room.

The participants were interviewed directly by the ranks of ATB managers.

Their process is quite dynamic and interesting, because interview format is more like discussion than formal interview.

Managers openly test participant's insights. One of them is knowledge about ATB and water management conditions in Batam.

Beside that, participants were also asked to talk about their motivation for applying scholarships in this program.

Sscholarship applicants were also asked to show a short video that had been made before.

As is well known, participants are required to make a 1 minute creative video to introduce themselves and explain their motivation to join ATB scholarship program.

According to Maria, this interview selection emphasizes the aspects of creativity and capabilities for prospective scholarship recipients.

The goal is ATB Care Education scholarship really falls to the right participants.

"There are many aspects that are the focus of assessment. They not only must smart and excel academically, they also have to be creative and have good vision for their future, "he explained.

Participants had previously passed through fairly strict administrative stage.

Among the students, must prove by attaching photocopy of report card or Study Result Card (KHS) Academic Year 2018/2019 Even Semester which is legalized with a wet stamp.

Scholarship applicants must also come from a school or university with a minimum accreditation of B.

Students who can apply for Scholarship are those who have performed as great student in class X or XI. While college students are those who have minimum GPA of 3.75 in semester 2, 4, 6.

Having passed the administrative selection, scholarship recipients must face the interview stage.

One of the lucky ones is Puri Sinta Dewi, a Informatics Engineering Student from SMK Negeri 1 Batam.

Puri claimed to get information about ATB Care Education Scholarship program from ATB social media and announcements at school.

He felt motivated to take part in this program to ease the burden on his parents.

But more than that, Puri also wants his success be able to encourage his friends to excel.

"If I succeed, surely they will also be motivated to achieve the same thing as me," she said.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program titled ATB Cares for Education has become an annual ATB routine program.

Company has distributed Odd semester scholarships at the beginning of 2019 and again poured out scholarships in this even semester.

There will be 24 high school / vocational students who will receive scholarship of IDR 2.5 million per semeter, and 10 outstanding students who will get scholarship of IDR 4 million / semester.

This activity, which has been held since 2011, has been awarded by Batam City Government in 2018 as company that cares about education.

"The total scholarships disbursed reached IDR 100 million, and will be submitted to final Cerdas Cermat ATB at Grand Mall Batam, October 27, 2019," said Maria. (*)
