Even so, that does not mean we should not consume salt at all. Maintaining levels is the most important thing, because salt also has several benefits for our body.

You may have often heard that eating lots of salt can cause high blood pressure. This is not wrong. It's just that you also need to know that there are also other diseases that can arise due to excessive salt consumption, as below.
1. Heart disease
Salt can increase blood pressure and cause high blood pressure. This condition is the most common cause of heart disease.

2. Chronic kidney disease

Chronic kidney disease and hypertension are associated with continuous cycles. Because the kidneys play a role in salt metabolism in the body.
3. Osteoporosis
The amount of calcium that comes out of the urine, will increase with increasing levels of salt in the body.
If the level of calcium in the blood decreases than it should, the body will take calcium from the bones to balance the lack of calcium.
This causes bone health to be disrupted to experience bone loss or osteoporosis.
4. Cancer
Consuming excess salt, can also increase a person's risk of stomach cancer.
5. Hypernatremia
Too much sodium in the blood can cause a condition that called hypernatremia.
This disease is an acute disorder that occurs when a person does not get enough food or drink, so that salt cannot be digested properly by the body. As a result, salt accumulation ensued.

When sodium in the blood builds up, metabolic disorders will occur in the body which can lead to a buildup of fluid in the body's organs, including the brain. This can cause seizures, coma, and even lead to death.
6. Nerve disorders
Salt is indeed important for maintaining nerve function. However, if excessive, salt consumption will actually turn around to damage it.
In our body, we need a balance between sodium (salt) and potassium to maintain normal nerve function.
If the sodium level is too much, then the balance will be disturbed. Similarly, nerve function, which will also experience interference.
How to limit salt levels in the body
If you are accustomed to consuming foods with excessive salt levels, it is better if you start limiting salt consumption. Here are the tips:
- Reduce salt, and add food flavor using spices and other seasonings such as garlic and chili.
- Also add lemon juice to make the meat softer and accentuate the taste of the food.
- Reduce salt when cooking slowly, within a few weeks, to build habits.
- Avoid eating fast food or canned food.
- Only use fresh vegetables and fruit for food and cooking.
- Choose foods that label low-salt or do not contain salt.
