TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) promises market penetration assistance for superior products from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

This was stated after the Directorate General of Asia Pacific and Africa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with the Government of the Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to discuss issues surrounding economic diplomacy on Monday (11/04/2019). 

Secretary General of the Asia Pacific and Africa Director, Rossy Verona said that in order for a product to be exportable, it must meet international trade standards and regulations such as health, safety, safety, and use of English in packaging.

To increase NTT's competitiveness, it also needs to be ensured that the processing of environmentally friendly products and not using underage workers. Also the need for compilation of a narrative that distinguishes NTT's superior products from the others.

Meanwhile, the NTT provincial government responded positively to the goodwill of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expressed its willingness to continue to encourage the development of UMKM and be more active in conducting promotions.

The Provincial Government is currently launching the NTT Economic Community program as an effort to create NTT as an exporter province like East Java and Bali.

At present, NTT has a number of superior products that have been exported to various countries such as coffee, chocolate, salt, cashew nuts, seaweed, fisheries and ikat. These products have been exported to China, Argentina, Japan, Australia, Timor Leste, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and several countries in Europe. In addition, another leading commodity namely moringa leaves will also be exported to Japan after all export licenses have been completed. 

The Head of the LPEI Denpasar Marketing Office, Muhammad Tito Septiarto, conveyed the willingness of LPEI to encourage increased exports of NTT's superior products.

Tito said that his party was ready to help finance and export consulting services, as well as capacity building programs for UMKMs in the NTT region. The funding to be provided is in the form of Export-Oriented People's Udaha Credit. (*)
