BP Batam will Develop the Concept of Water and Waste Management

TTIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM -  The development of integrated water and waste management concepts is being offered by BP Batam.

The concept is to support the availability of water in Batam, Rempang and Galang for the next 30 years.

This was said by the Head of the BP Batam Water and Waste Office, Binsar Oktavidwin Tambunan, after being a speaker in the Indonesia Infrastructure Week 2019 series with the headline "Outlook integrated Utilities Infrastructure in Indonesia" at JIExpo, Jakarta, recently. 

"We describe Batam integrated total water management which synergizes the potential availability of water, wastewater management, desilanisation and recycling (rycycle) systems so that this can support the availability of water until 2045," he said.

Binsar also explained that the concept of Batam Integrated Total Water Management is a solution to increase clean water supply in Batam. With procedures processed through technology, recycle and desinalization to meet water needs for the community and industry. 

"Starting from rain water collected in seven reservoirs, it will be processed into clean water, well, this clean water will later become waste water, this will be treated so that it does not pollute our environment or water sources," he said.

The rapid population growth and water consumption for industry and domestic generates 70 percent of the use of clean water.

"Our reservoirs are not enough, we must integrate water sources, develop other water source concepts, so that we can meet water sources, both through waste water recycle as well as through desinalization management. Because it is known Barelang water needs until 2045 to seven thousand liters per second or twice our current water needs, "he explained 

He believes through the total solutions offered by many private parties involved in developing improved water and waste management in Batam. 

"Investment in the field of water is very interesting. As is known, the ATB concession for 25 years has become the best in Indonesia.
