Get Ready, Investment of IDR 20 Trillion Will Enter Batam, Needs 10 Thousand Workers

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Batam investment world began to move up.

On the commemoration of 190th Anniversary of Batam (HJB), Mayor of ex Officio, Head of Batam Business Entity (BP), Muhammad Rudi, revealed that in the near future there will be large investors entering Batam.

Rudi said this investor brought in an investment of around IDR 20 trillion, and is engaged in the aviation industry.

This investor's plan to enter Batam, has been approved by President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

"We have met big investors. Even this is in the very large category. IDR 20 trillion in capital. That is big. It will build an MRO and manufacture aircraft in Batam," said Rudi, Tuesday (12/17/2019).

Previously, Rudi admitted that he had written to President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, related to the investment plan and was approved.

If this investment plan starts immediately and construction is carried out in five years, it will not suck up a lot of labor.

"Because the investment is quite large, I consulted the President. Thank God he agreed. I have agreed with the President. If it has been going on for 5 years, it will accommodate 10 thousand workers, because it requires 10 thousand workers," said Rudi.

He admitted this investor would open up about 10,000 jobs, over the next 5 years.

Estimated to start operating since January 2020.

He continued the company will build Maintenance Repair, Overhaul (MRO) and aircraft manufacturing.

The investment value is recognized after it meets with potential investors.

This was revealed before making a pilgrimage to the tomb of Zuriat Nong Isa in Nongsa.

Rudi invited the residents of Nongsa to prepare themselves.

So that it can be recruited as workers to support the operation of investor's company.

Residents are encouraged to join the training if vocational training center (BLK) has been completed, in Nongsa.

"In Nongsa, a Vocational Training Center (BLK) will be built. So I hope Nongsa residents will go to training center. So that all can progress. But not just entering. We need basic education," Rudi appealed.

According to him, Nongsa has great potential for economic growth.

For education, Rudi appealed to all Nongsa residents not to play. The field of aircraft engineering is needed in the future.

"The question is, are you ready for Nongsa residents? Five years there is still time to improve energy. Hopefully, we can enjoy what will be built. We fix ourselves," invited Rudi to end.

Previously, Lion Air and Garuda Indonesia had already built an MRO at Hang Nadim Airport.

Then, Ilham Habibie also plans to build the aviation industry at Hang Nadim Airport.

Besides, there are prospective investors from United States, who plan to enter Batam.

The prospective investor is asking for land around 30 hectares in Hang Nadim.

It's just, Rudi did not mention, whether the prospective investor who has capital of 20 trillion, is an investor from United States or not.

While BP Batam, led by Edy Putra, revealed that the prospective US investor, who requested 30 hectare land, would build an aircraft reconditioning plant at Hang Nadim Airport.

"I have been called by Mr. Richard (a potential investor) to provide 20 hectares of land. They will create an export market component industry for aircraft," Edy explained before being replaced by Rudi.

Airbus is also exploring an aircraft maintenance investment plan in Batam.

The plan, Airbus management will come back to Indonesia to bring more detailed cooperation proposal.
