Aim For Large Ships, BP Batam Will Dredge The Sea Path of Batu Ampar Port
BP Batam immediately designed some programs to improve Batu Ampar port. Batu Ampar port will become an international destination. Here's the plan.
TRIBUNBATAM.id - After being appointed as Director of Batam Port Business Entity (BP), Nelson Idris immediately designed some programs to improve Batu Ampar port system.
One of them, deepening the sea lane.
So, the large ships can dock at Batu Ampar port and it will become an international destination.
"My short-term work target is fixing Port (Batu Ampar) first. So the port is dredged to be expected minus 14 to 15 drafts. So that big ships lean there," Nelson said, Sunday (1/12/2020).
The number of large ships that dock and unload containers, will have an impact on the income received by BP Batam.
Nelson Idris is committed to improving port administration.

He asserted that the port is a restricted area.
He targets for the next 6 months to be completed.

"Only people who are given authority can enter into it. If they are not authorized, they cannot enter the restricted area," he said.
He also mentioned the removal of Pelni Ship Port from Batu Ampar to Sekupang which according to him was mandatory.
According to him, the focus of Batu Ampar Port is port of goods.
Sekupang Port has indeed been reformed a lot.
According to Nelson, many facilities were no longer appropriate for passengers to use.
