Today, Lion Air Officially Suspends Umrah Flights to Saudi Arabia, Here are the Details Information!

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The airline, Lion Air officially suspended the umrah flights to Saudi Arabia starting today, Friday (02/28/2020).

"Lion Air has temporarily suspended all umrah flights services from 13 departure cities from Indonesia to Saudi Arabia until further notice," Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro said in a written statement on Friday.

Danang explained, the temporary delay was carried out in accordance with official notification from the regulator of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Government of the Kingdom Saudi Arabia. 

In addition, this step is also in line with the Circular of the Ministry of Transportation of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation regarding Temporary Suspension of Flight Routes to Saudi Arabia.

"Lion Air complies and carries out all international aviation rules, regulators and company regulations in carrying out operations," he said.

Furthermore, the temporary suspension of flights was also carried out in the framework of preventive measures for flight crew and pilgrims and to prevent the corona virus from spreading.

Regarding this temporary delay, Danang ensured that his party had asked all Umrah partners and organizing agents who collaborated with Lion Air to provide information on delaying pilgrimage flights to all prospective pilgrims from Indonesia in accordance with the latest developments.

"Lion Air will continue to monitor and coordinate with local aviation authorities in Saudi Arabia and will deliver notifications based on the latest developments," he said. 

For information, the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi warned all airlines in Indonesia, starting today, Friday, not to serve flights to Saudi Arabia temporarily.

This is to respect the decision of the Saudi Arabian authorities to announce the temporary suspension of Umrah and tourist visas to the country. This was done to prevent the spread of the corona virus.

"Tomorrow (today) there will be no more flights to Saudi Arabia," Budi said when met at the PMK Coordinating Office, Jakarta, Thursday (02/27/2020). (*)
