TRIBUNBATAM.id -  A number of companies and government agencies enforce work from home (WFH) policies for their employees.

This policy is carried out in order to minimize the risk of spreading the Corona virus.

Priyantono Rudito, a human resources expert, sees that the work from home policy was the right thing.

The policy, according to him, is a joint effort and a contribution of the company to reduce the possibility and risk of spreading or transmitting the Corona virus

"Before this situation happened, WFH was in fact already part of the current HR practices trends & outlook. There are 15 major HR practices that are currently taking place as the results of my study," Priyantono said in his statement on Wednesday (3/18/2020).

WFH, continued the former Chairman of Telkom Australia, is one of the trends that is increasingly becoming a new normal in HR practices in this digital era.

"WFH is believed to provide benefits for both employees and companies," he said.

For employees, WFH can be a solution for their aspirations to get a balance between work and personal life, and increase productivity.

"Especially for the segment of millennial employees who want these flexibility," explained Priyantono.

As for companies, WFH has been widely practiced because it supports the collaborative way of working to produce more positive things.

These include co-creation between units, building digital cultures and mindsets faster, and developing digital competencies by utilizing developing technologies and collaborative platforms.

"In many companies this has become a strategic program known as the digital transformation program," said the author of the book Leveraging Global Talent.

One of the companies implementing work from home is Gojek. According to Gojek's Co-CEO, Andre Soelistyo, this policy was carried out for safety and health.

"One thing that we care about more than others is the health and safety of all people in our ecosystem and outside the ecosystem. That is why we have introduced the WFH policy at our headquarters in Indonesia, India, Singapore and the Philippines, "Andre said in an upload on his personal LinkedIn account.

The same policy was immediately implemented by Gojek at representative offices in several other countries this week.
