TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Directorate-General (DG) of Customs and Excise canceled the auction of 21,000 N95 masks confiscated by the state.

Director of International Customs and Inter-Institution (KIAL) Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Syarif Hidayat said, his party had canceled the auction process which was planned to be carried out tomorrow, Monday (4/20/2020), by the Office of State Assets and Auction Services (KPKNL) Tangerang II.

"The auction which will be held at the Tangerang II KPKNL Office on April 20 has been canceled," he told to Kompas.com, Jakarta, Sunday (4/19/2020).

The Directorate General of Customs and Excise said the high demand for N95 masks during the coronavirus pandemic was the main reason for canceling the auction procession.

Related to the emergence of N95 masks on the lelang.go.id page, Head of Communications and Publication Sub Directorate of DJBC Finance, Deni Surjantoro explained, his party had submitted the results of confiscated items to the KPKNL since 2019. At that time the need for masks wasn't yet high.

The auction process for 21,000 N95 masks was first carried out in November 2019.

However, because there were no buyers, the confiscated goods were submitted for the second auction process which was originally scheduled for February 2020, then was postponed to April 20, 2020.
