TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Edhy Prabowo, said that the current condition of the coronavirus or Covid-19 pandemic was a momentum to increase fish exports.
According to him, during current conditions, consumption of fish, which are a source of animal protein, has increased significantly.
"The needs of the world continue to run. Especially for the retail market. What is reduced is food service for hotels and restaurants," explained Edhy in a written statement as quoted by Antara, Saturday (4/18/2020).
Moreover, a number of countries are implementing the Lockdown policy. Although there are restrictions on movement, the distribution of food needs remains a priority, so that it can be used to boost the volume of fish exports.
KKP itself, he said, had been trying to provide logistical facilities that were urgently needed to meet the needs of raw materials for the Fish Processing Unit (UPI) for export purposes.
According to Edhy, his ministry has also written to the Task Force for the Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling in order to guarantee access to and out of the distribution of fishery products at home and abroad.
