Contribute to Foreign Exchange, The Worst Tourism Business Sector During Covid-19
Covid-19 outbreak that took place around the world made the growth of tourism activities decline. This is also stated on Batam Tourism Development.
TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Tourism is one of the economic sectors that contributes a significant amount of the country's income and foreign exchange.
However, Covid-19 outbreak that took place around the world made the growth of tourism activities decline.
Through a live Zoom talkshow on Batam Tourism Development on Saturday (5/16/2020), the President of Indonesia Marketing Association, Irfan Widyasa, stated that the four economic sectors affected were quite large by Covid-19 outbreak.
Namely construction and real estate, automotive, aviation and maritime, and the lowest are tourism.
Meanwhile, business sectors such as health equipment and services, food processing, and personal health products have the potential to increase revenues.
In more detail, according to data from Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, in the April 2020 period, business sectors such as recreation and sports services, travel agents, tourism providers, and other activities related to tourism (small traders, hawkers, stalls, etc.) are the worst business sector in the Covid-19 period.

The decline in the development of tourism in Indonesia, especially Batam, Riau Islands is none other than the impact of the prevention and handling of Covid-19.
This can be seen from the number of businesses that are temporarily closed and entertainment events and activities postponed.
"The cessation of human movement throughout the world has caused the tourism sector to collapse," said Irfan.
In addition, efforts to overcome the stagnation of tourism growth must also pay attention to the development of handling Covid-19, not only in Batam, but also throughout the world.
If the process of handling Covid-19 during the emergency response period does not occur simultaneously throughout the world, automatically economic recovery will also occur not simultaneously, and will lead to a slowing development of the tourism sector.
"The process of emergency response and recovery in each country does not coincide with the completion time, so that the recovery of world tourism becomes slow," added Irfan.
In this recovery effort, IMA predicts that Covid-19 emergency response phase will be completed in 2020, then in 2021, the world economy is expected to recover, and by 2022, the world tourism sector can proceed as before.
Although the resolution of emergency response from each country is predicted not to be simultaneous.
However, this can be overcome by means of Government and business actors, so that they can focus on the domestic market first, before venturing into the world tourism market. (TRIBUNBATAM.id/ Hening Sekar Utami)
