TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM -The airline from Vietnam, Bamboo Airways, opened a special route to Batam City.

Information from TribunBatam's source said this flight was devoted to evacuating Vietnamese citizens due to Covid-19 pandemic.

This was also justified by Director of Hang Nadim Batam Airport Business Entity (BUBU), Suwarso.

According to him, Bamboo Airways brought 21 Vietnamese out of Batam.

"It had already departed. Everything was taken to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Vietnam," he told TribunBatam on Friday (5/22/2020).

The pickup itself was carried out on Friday afternoon, around 16:20 West Indonesia Time.

Meanwhile, it is known that the flow of passengers going out and entering Batam has declined dramatically since Covid-19 pandemic struck.

In fact, the rate of decline according to Suwarso is very far from the previous year.

"If last year, one day could reach 6 thousand to 7 thousand passengers. And 7 thousand to 8.5 thousand passengers departed. We take the same time two weeks before Eid," he concluded.

Now, in the last two weeks, the flow of passengers has only reached around 600 people and around 700 people have departed.
