New Normal, Government's Hope to Recover the Economy from the Impact of the Pandemic
It is hoped that Indonesia will be able to get out of the economic recession caused by Covid-19 in a relatively short time.
TRIBUNBATAM.id - The government plans to implement a New Normal scenario in the near future.
The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, also revealed that the New Normal order of life has only been carried out because people are now being asked to adapt to the coronavirus or Covid-19 virus as long as the vaccine cannot be found.
It is hoped that Indonesia will be able to get out of the economic recession caused by Covid-19 in a relatively short time.
"We will make a scenario related to how to strengthen in terms of health and start adjusting economic activities so that we can suppress the victims of Covid-19, in addition to being able to suppress layoff victims and restart the socio-economy," Airlangga explained in a video conference on Wednesday (27 / 5/2020).
"Looking at the scenario, there are high and low mortality rates, slow recovery with a severe recession, and fast recovery. It is hoped that Indonesia will come out with a V-shape or in accordance with the productive and safe theme of Covid-19," he added.
Airlangga also said the government has designed stages of economic recovery gradually through several phases.
In addition, the government has also prepared a National Economic Recovery (PEN) program.
Airlangga explained, there are several conditions that must be met by an area to be able to apply the new normal scenario.
One of them is the condition of the development of Covid-19 in the area concerned, which is measured through an indicator of transmission based on the basic reproduction rate of the plague (R0) in time t (Rt). Benchmarks for reproduction number R0 at time t (Rt) or effective reproduction rate must be below 1.

According to him, based on data from the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Department (PPN/Bappenas), if seen from the R0 indicator, there are several regions that are ready to run the new normal scenario.
"In Java, there is a trend, in Central Java, in Bali, DKI Jakarta and Yogyakarta, the trend has decreased and is relatively below 1 in tracking in the last three months. For Sumatra, such as Aceh, West Sumatra, Bangka Belitung, Riau Islands, and Riau also the number is below 1 and the trend has declined, "he said in a video conference on Wednesday (5/27/2020).
"Likewise in several regions in Sulawesi, namely West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, then East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan," he continued.
Airlangga said, in addition to the development of the Covid-19 case in the area concerned, other requirements that must be met for the implementation of the new normal scenario include surveillance of viruses or public health, health service capacity, business preparation, and public response.
He also revealed that up to now there are 110 regencies/cities based on epidemiological data of BNPB which have not been infected by Covid-19. These areas also meet the requirements for the application of new normal life order.
Furthermore, he explained, some sectors that will be opened first when a new normal scenario is implemented are the industrial sectors. The sector, explained Airlangga, had obtained an operating permit from the Ministry of Health from the beginning.
