New Normal, Boss of Garuda Indonesia Propose the Airplane Passengers are Required a Rapid Test only

TRIBUNBATAM.id - President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra suggested that the conditions for people who want to use air transportation services in the New Normal era are enough to include a Covid-free certificate based on the results of rapid tests only.

Because, if a passenger is required to have a corona negative certificate with a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) swab test method, it is feared that it will burden the public.

"In the future, we will make sure the people who board this plane (must) are in good health. Healthy here, in our opinion, a rapid test is enough. But many expect that (the passenger) (doing) PCR test, "said Irfan in a virtual press conference on Friday (6/5/2020). 

According to Irfan, not all regions have PCR tools. With these limitations, people who need aviation transportation services will find it difficult to meet the necessary conditions.

"Not all places have PCR, as is the rapid test," said Irfan.

Not only that, continued Irfan, Covid-19 test costs with PCR-based swab test methods are not cheap. In fact, he said, the price could be more expensive than the flight ticket. 

Previously, the Ministry of Transportation reviewed Bali's preparations, which were planned to be reopened during the New Normal or New Normal order.

In this review, the Ministry of Transportation wants to ensure flight operations to and from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, run according to PM 25 of 2020 concerning Transportation Control During the Eid Al-Fitr Mudik Period of 1441H. 

Director-General of Civil Aviation, Novie Riyanto said, Bali had made preparations to enter the new normality period by following the provisions and applicable health protocols.
