TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) opened their voices regarding the decision of Garuda Indonesia to terminate its employment (PHK) for some of its pilots.
Special Staff of the Minister of BUMN, Arya Sinulingga, said that his party submitted the matter to Garuda Indonesia.
"We leave it to Garuda's management, the impact of the corona, the consequences of its business, including the efficiency carried out so that Garuda can survive and operate. They have choices and we know the choices are very difficult, "Arya said during a teleconference with reporters on Tuesday (2/6/2020).
Arya added, the decision taken by Garuda Indonesia was not an easy thing. This was done in order to maintain the sustainability of the state-owned airline.
"For us, this decision was taken by Garuda, we believe, has been carefully considered, both in terms of business and management," said Arya.
Previously, information was circulating that PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk had terminated its employment (PHK) for its pilots.
Responding to that information, Garuda Indonesia's management gave an explanation related to the termination of employment (PHK) for a number of pilots.

Garuda Indonesia's Managing Director, Irfan Sebuahutra, confirmed the company's layoffs on a number of pilots. The company decided to expedite the completion of the pilot work contract.
"Basically, the policy that Garuda Indonesia applies is an early settlement of employee employment contracts with the pilot profession in the status of a certain time employment relationship," he said in a written statement, Monday (1/6/2020).
Furthermore, Irfan ensured, the red plate airline still pays and fulfills all its obligations according to the agreed contract time.
The move was taken because it responded to the drop in the number of flight passengers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"The policy is carried out as a sustainable step that needs to be taken in an effort to align supply and demand for aviation operations which is currently significantly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic," he said. (*)
