Retail Entrepreneurs are Asked To Apply Non-cash Payments, What about Retail in Batam?

TRIBUNBATAM.id -  Chairperson of the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI) Stefanus Ridwan said he would ask and encourage retail entrepreneurs to adopt cashless or non-cash payment methods when the mall officially opened on June 15, 2020.

He said this was done to protect customers and employees from contracting the Covid-19 virus.

"We and all retailers apply for cashless or non-cash payments so that we can reduce the risk of Covid-19 distribution and not direct contact," he said in a MarkPlus Industry Rountable Retail retail sector which was held virtually on Tuesday (9/06/2020). 

He also said that retailers or tenants must also be obliged to keep their distance and every customer is prohibited from making direct contact.

He also mentioned that the association had compiled a health protocol that would later be mandatory for employees, mall administrators, and visitors.

The health protocol in question includes keeping a distance at a shop or restaurant, periodically spraying it using disinfectants for public places, and reducing the number of visitors and employees by 50 percent.

To maintain the cleanliness of public infrastructures such as elevators and escalators, said Stefanus, the janitors who were once tasked just cleaning only, now have the additional task of sanitizing and maintaining the safety of public infrastructure. 

Likewise, with security officers, they will have additional work to ensure that the implementation of health protocols is well implemented by managers, retailers, and visitors.

Not only that, Stefanus also mentioned that, at the opening of the mall on the first day, the number of visitors will not burst.

"In my opinion, it won't be crowded, because maybe they have a lot of considerations too. Especially on the first day, people will naturally prefer to go to work," he said. (*)
