Health Products and Cooking Spices are the Most Targeted During the Pandemic

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Pomona's founder and Co-Founder, Benz Budiman, said the coronavirus pandemic has changed people's daily needs.

He said, initially many people bought beauty products and facial treatments, now since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, people preferred to buy products in the category of pharmaceuticals and cooking ingredients.

"Of course, based on our data, the pharmaceutical category is gaining high popularity to ensure their health. Cooking ingredients also go up as they are more at home and interested in doing activities such as cooking," he said during a virtual discussion on Wednesday (7/8) 2020). 

In detail, Benz said, for the dry food category, before Covid-19 began to become epidemic in the world, there were 14 percent of people who bought it.

However, after Covid-19 became epidemic globally, the number of buyers of dried food decreased by 7 percent.

Then, recently the people's desire to buy this product began to show an increase in numbers again.

"The most significant shows the increase in food seasoning products (cooking spices). Before there was Covid-19, customers who bought seasoning products there were 18 percent and when there was Covid-19, it rose dramatically to 44 percent. Likewise with the category of pharmaceutical products, before Covid-19 epidemic, only 16 percent, now it rose dramatically to 48 percent, "he said. 

Unlike the two categories, it is the entertainment product category that has decreased.

When Covid-19 was not yet epidemic, there were as many as 14 percent of customers interested in buying entertainment products, but now, when Covid-19 hit, it dropped to 10 percent.

"From these data we can see, when Covid-19 was epidemic, the level of public concern for their health increased dramatically. They prioritized their basic needs and health, rather than other needs," he explained. (*)
