TRIBUNBATAM.id - DKI Jakarta province recorded the highest addition of Covid-19 cases in the past week.

The addition of cases occurred on Wednesday (07/08/2020), Saturday (07/11/2020), and Sunday (7/12/2020).

On Wednesday, reports of the number of new Covid-19 cases were 344, the highest since the inaugural case in the Capital City. 

The new case report came from 51 Indonesian citizens who had just returned from abroad and transited in Jakarta, 36 of whom were the accumulations of Covid-19 patients who had just been reported by one of the hospital laboratories.

Then, 257 people are finding new cases from hospitals and health centers, both from patients, contact tracing results, and active case finding.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Covid-19's positive new case report exceeded the number of new cases on Wednesday and was the highest since the inaugural case in the Capital City.

On Saturday, Covid-19 positive new case reports in Jakarta reached 359 cases.

There was no specific explanation given by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government related to the surge in Covid-19 patients. 

Finally, the new case report on Sunday returned to the highest level. There are as many as 404 new cases reported by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, surpassing the number of new cases last Saturday.

What is the cause of the high number of new cases of Covid-19 in the past week?  

Very low community compliance

Epidemiologist from the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia (FKM UI), Pandu Riono assessed that the surge in the number of patients who were positive in Covid-19 in Jakarta was due to the low level of community compliance with prevention protocols.
