Riau Islands Governor Isdianto Will Propose Leave, Confirming will Join the Kepri Governor Election

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Isdianto only briefly served as Governor of the Riau Islands.

After being sworn in at the State Palace by President Joko Widodo on Monday (7/27), he will take leave on September 26, 2020. 

The leave taken by Isdianto at the same time ensured his intention to move forward in the Riau Islands Governor Election. 

"In September I will take a leave, which will replace the Ad-interim from the center who will determine," said Isdianto, Wednesday (07/29/2020).

He asserted that it was very serious to become a participant in the Riau Islands Regional Election. 

Affirmation for the definitive regional head who advanced in the Simultaneous Local Election was justified by the Chairperson of the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Riau Islands Province, Sriwati.

Sriwati said that the mandatory leave of absence during the campaign period was carried out from 26 September 2020 and after registration as a candidate for the Governor of the Riau Islands.

The position of the Governor of Riau Islands Isdianto as the number one person in the Riau Islands would have been replaced if he had taken leave on 26 September 2020. 

The affirmation of leave for the definitive regional head is regulated in article 70 of Law Number 10 the Year 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 1 the Year 2015 concerning the Establishment of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 the Year 2014 concerning Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors into Law.

When the pair of regional head and deputy head of regional incumbent come forward again in the regional head election (pilkada), there is an obligation to take leave throughout the campaign period.

In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs (Permendagri) 74/2016 concerning Leave Outside the State Dependency for the Governor and Deputy Governor, the Regent and Deputy Regent, as well as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. (*)
