"Insya Allah, the raw material used is Halal for the Covid-19 vaccine because Bio Farma has become one of the world's halal vaccine production centers," Erick said in his written statement on Wednesday (5/8/2020).
"Halal certification for the coronavirus vaccine will later be issued by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). But, the raw materials and production are ready. Therefore, I ask the public not to worry about the quality of the coronavirus vaccine which will certainly be distributed throughout Indonesia, "said Erick.
According to the plan, Bio Farma will add a new vaccine production building with a capacity of 150 million per year in December 2020.
"With a total capacity of 250 million, next year, when we produce vaccines, Insya Allah, the amount will be sufficient, but again, the vaccine first needs to be clinically tested," he said.
The government is targeting, the vaccine can be produced by Bio Farma next year.
Production will be carried out after the third phase of clinical trials has been completed.
It is targeted that the clinical trial will be completed in January 2021, so that Bio Farma can directly produce the coronavirus vaccine in the first quarter of 2021. *
