Recovery Rate of Covid-19 Patients in Batam is Claimed to Be Above the National Average

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The latest update on the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Batam reached 2,193 people as of Monday (19/10/2020).

Of these, 1,790 recovered cases and 62 died.

Head of the Infectious Diseases Division, Batam City Health Department, Irnal Syafei stated, the number of exposure to Covid-19 between men and women experienced a difference.

Now, the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 patients has reached 1,066, while the number of men is 1,127.

This difference in numbers, according to Irnal, is due to differences in the intensity of their activities outside the home.

Apart from the 952 private employees, the most exposed patients were housewives as many as 241 people.

"Cumulatively, the number of exposed cases of women is less and the cure rate is higher," said Irnal.

However, the good news is, Irnal explained that the cure rate for Covid-19 in Batam City reached more than 80%.

This cure rate is considered to be higher than the national average.

Mostly, the number of cases is dominated by young people of productive age.

The number of confirmed asymptomatic people was 966, which is more than 608 confirmed cases.

"The cure rate for Covid-19 in Batam City is higher than the national average," explained Irnal.
