President Jokowi's statement, who will be the first person to be injected with the Covid-19 vaccine - The Executive Secretary of the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN), Raden Pardede, revealed the reason why President Joko Widodo finally gave the Covid-19 vaccine free.

According to him, Jokowi is considering the use of vaccines to build herd immunity.

Herd immunity is not only related to the level of effectiveness of the corona vaccine, but also with the number of people who get the free Covid-19 vaccination program.

In this regard, said Raden, Jokowi received input from many parties.

"The President listened based on the meeting through us, at that time, through the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, we listened to ITAGI (Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization), then SAGE (The Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization)," Raden said as quoted by id, Thursday (17/12/2020).

Raden said that input from various parties received support from the DPR, especially Commission IX in charge of health.

The DPR encourages the application of the principle of justice in the vaccination program. Even if there must be a paid vaccine, the portion cannot be too large.

Previously, Jokowi announced that the government would eliminate the Covid-19 vaccine.

This decision was taken after the stakeholders received a lot of input from the public and recalculated state finances.

With this decision, Jokowi instructed his staff in all ministries / agencies, as well as local governments, to prioritize the vaccination program in the 2021 budget year.

He also ordered Finance Minister Sri Mulyani to prioritize and reallocate another budget for the free vaccination program.

"So, there is no more reason for the community not to get vaccines equally," said Jokowi. (*)
