TRIBUNBATAM.id - The sale of the Nusantara Vaccine, which was initiated by the former Minister of Health, Terawan Agus Putranto, doesn't need permission from the Food and Drug Supervisory Department (BPOM) first.
This was conveyed by the Head of BPOM, Penny K. Lukito.
Previously, it was reported that the Turkish government planned to buy 5 million doses of Nusantara Vaccine.
In fact, they also invited the Nusantara Vaccine researchers to carry out phase 3 clinical trials in Turkey because they are not permitted in Indonesia.
"There is no need for pre-market approval from BPOM," said Penny when contacted, Thursday (8/26/2021).
So far, Nusantara Vaccines haven't yet entered phase 3 clinical trials in Indonesia.
"Clinical trials are included in service-based research.
Dendritic cells that are autologous are only used for the patient's own self, so they cannot be commercialized," said Penny.
Separately, the Main Researcher of the Nusantara Vaccine at the RSPAD, Colonel Jonny, admitted that he didn't know anything about the news that the Nusantara vaccine was ordered by Turkey.
