Today's Tourism Update: Government Reduce the Quarantine Period for Foreign Tourists to 5 Days

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The government plans to reduce the quarantine period for foreign tourists and foreign travelers to five days.

The plan was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto after a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo and several related ministers at the Presidential Palace, last Thursday (10/7/2021).

Meanwhile, currently the quarantine period for foreign travelers entering Indonesia is 8 days.

Airlangga said that with the current conditions, the opening of community activities could be carried out immediately.

The government's plan to reduce the quarantine period for foreign tourists has been well received by the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI).

The secretary of PHRI, Maulana Yusran, said that if the policy was implemented, the cost of traveling could be reduced by three days.

This is because previously PHRI thought that quarantine would increase the burden on tourists, so that a more relaxed scheme was needed to keep them interested in visiting Indonesia.

Such a quarantine, according to Maulana, can be made like a regional quarantine. So, tourists can still do activities by enjoying hotel facilities.

"Hotel quarantine with this scheme is considered to be a new program in tourism promotion.

Some areas are considered to have a number of activities that can attract foreign tourists," said Maulana.
