TRIBUNBATAM.id, YOGYAKARTA - Gembira Loka Zoo (GL Zoo) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta has been accepted tourists under age 12.

The regulation is in line with the policy of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno regarding discretion for tourists under age of 12 to enter tourist attractions.

GL Zoo's Marketing Manager, Yosi Hermawan said, the discretionary policy for visitors under age 12 began on Monday (10/11/2021) yesterday.

The discretion is accompanied by conditions that must be met by visitors.

The first requirement is that parents must have received at least the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination.

Second, visitors are required to install the PeduliLindung application.

In addition, they must also implement strict health protocols during their visit to GL Zoo.

"Parents are required to supervise their children during their visit to GL Zoo, especially supervision so that the children do not gather together.

And always wear masks while in the zoo environment," explained Yosi.

For visitors who have difficulty using the PeduliLindung application, GL Zoo will help by entering data manually.

Based on data during the implementation of the discretion, only 10-20 percent of visitors were denied entry.

This is different from before the discretionary rules were applied because there were 80 percent of potential visitors who were refused entry.

The GL Zoo manager still applies a visit quota.

The zoo area reaches 20 hectares with a maximum capacity of 30,000 visitors under normal circumstances.

The scheme used is a minimum visit of 10 percent.

With the implementation of this discretion, GL Zoo operates normally.

Before this rule was applied, GL Zoo was only open on weekends.

This was done because the small number of visits wasn't comparable to operations.
