TRIBUNBATAM.id - Spokesman for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that the arrival of travelers from abroad had increased until mid-December. 

It was recorded that more than 4,000 foreign travelers entered Indonesia through Soekarno-Hatta Airport. 

Wiku said that this figure was much higher than last October, which was only in the range of 1,000-2,000 foreign travellers. 

"In the last two months, the trend of arrivals of foreign travelers entering Indonesia has actually increased, at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, arrivals in October were 1,000-2,000 and reached 4,000 this December," Wiku said at a press conference, Tuesday (12/21/2021).

The Covid-19 Task Force also noted a surge in foreign entering Indonesia at the Entikong State Border Post (PBLN).

Last November, the Task Force recorded as many as 100 arrivals of foreign travelers at the Entikong PLBN.

Arrivals jumped until December 10, it was recorded that more than 300 foreign travelers entered Indonesia through the Entikong PLBN. 

In addition to the two entrances, a surge in foreign travelers also occurred at the sea entrance.

Based on the records of the Covid-19 Task Force, the surge in foreign travelers at the Batam Center Port has doubled this month. 

It was recorded that as many as 200-400 foreign travelers entered through the Batam Center Port. That number increased from last November as many as 100-200 people.

The Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, said that the Omicron case in Indonesia was an imported case that was transmitted from foreign travelers.

However, migrants from several countries can still enter Indonesia on condition that they must follow quarantine procedures.

Meanwhile, Indonesians themselves are advised not to travel abroad during Christmas and New Year.
