Bali is a popular and favorite destination for many people, but the price of the ticket plane to Bali from Jakarta is quite expensive. 

If you have a mediocre budget, you can take a vacation to Bali by taking the train from Jakarta.

The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation through its official Instagram account @ditjenperkeretaapian shared how to get to Bali by train from Jakarta for less than Rp. 200,000 for one way.

However, keep in mind, these tips are not suitable for those of you who have limited vacation time.

Although it takes more time and extra effort, going to Bali by train will provide a different experience than usual. 

Tips for getting to Bali by train from Jakarta

1. From Jakarta, you can take the Airlangga train from Pasar Senen Station to Surabaya Pasarturi Station. Ticket price is around IDR 104,000 per person. Although it takes about 11 hours to travel, you can still sit comfortably and enjoy the view through the train window.

2. Arriving at Surabaya Pasarturi Station, you need to change to Surabaya Gubeng Station to take the next train to Ketapang Harbor, Banyuwangi, East Java.

3. To go to Surabaya Gubeng Station, which is about 5 kilometers (km), you can take an ojek or called taxibike for around IDR 12,000. 

4. Arriving at Surabaya Gubeng Station, take the Probowangi train to Ketapang Banyuwangi with a ticket of around IDR 56,000 with a travel time of about 7 hours. 

5. Then, upon arrival at Ketapang Banyuwangi Station, walk or use public transportation to Ketapang Harbor about 600 meters.

6. From Ketapang Harbor take a ferry to Gilimanuk Harbor, Bali, with a ticket price of IDR 8,500 per person.

7. Arriving in Bali, you can take public transportation to go to tourist destinations.
