TRIBUNBATAM.id - The government canceled the plan to increase ticket prices for Borobudur Temple, which has been the pros and cons of recent times. 

The news was conveyed by the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono after attending a limited meeting on tourism at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (6/14). 

Although canceling the plan, the government will still limit the number of visitors who go up to the temple area, which is 1,200 people per day.

Previously, visitors had to register online first.

Visitors must also be accompanied by a registered tour guide, and wear special footwear.

Regarding the cancellation of the increase in ticket prices for Borobudur Temple, PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, Ratu Boko (TWC) accepted whatever the central government's decision was.

This was said by Pujo Suwarno as Sales Vice President of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, Ratu Boko.

In addition, PT TWC coordinates with the Directorate General of Culture of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) regarding the mechanism for tourist visits to the cultural heritage.

Pujo explained that PT TWC also coordinated with the Borobudur Conservation Center (BKB) which prepared or compiled a standard operating procedure (SOP) for tourist visits. 

He explained, there were a number of points underlined regarding the mechanism of tourist visits at Borobudur Temple.

These points include limiting the number of visitors who go up to the temple structure, which is 1,200 people per day including domestic and foreign tourists.

In addition, tourists are required to use the services of a tour guide and wear special footwear (upanat sandals).

Contacted separately, the Head of the Borobudur Conservation Center, Wiwit Kasiyati said that the SOP for tourist visits had been prepared and immediately approved by the Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Wiwit said, currently, the structure of Borobudur Temple is ready for tourists to visit, but it must meet certain conditions.

For tourists who cannot go up to the temple structure, facilities will be prepared that will allow them to enjoy Borobudur Temple virtually.
