TRIBUNBATAM.id - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno assessed that wellness tourism or fitness tourism is the key to the recovery of the tourism sector and the creative economy (parekraf) in Indonesia, even the world.
"I believe that the industry that is resistant to crisis is the wellness (tourism) industry, especially after the pandemic, health is everyone's top priority," said Sandiaga, through his official statement, Friday (8/5/2022).
In addition, he continued, there is also a trend to promote a healthy lifestyle.
"And, wellness tourism is the key to tourism recovery, both nationally and globally," he added.

The phenomenon of increasing health care after the pandemic is seen as proof that wellness tourism is one of the tough, inclusive, and responsive industries to the crisis.
Indonesia has a large market potential related to global wellness tourism.
According to the Global Wellness Institute, a non-profit organization with a mission to empower fitness around the world, in 2017, Indonesia was in 17th position as a fitness tourism destination market.
Indonesia is also the second largest market in Southeast Asia, creating 1.31 million workers.
Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is holding the 2022 International Wellness Tourism Conference and Festival (IWTCF).
