TRIBUNBATAM.id - Mount Semeru, located in Lumajang, East Java, erupted on Friday (25/11) at 07.02 am.
According to a report by the Center of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the ash column was observed to be approximately 500 meters above the peak.
"Mount Semeru erupted on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 07.02 (Western Indonesian Time). The height of the eruption column was ± 500 meters above the peak," wrote PVMBG.
Based on seismograph data, this eruption was recorded to have a maximum amplitude of 22 mm with a duration of 90 seconds.
Based on observations, the ash column was observed to be gray with a thick intensity to the northeast.

PVMBG appealed to the public not to carry out any activities in the southeastern sector along Besuk Kobokan or 13 KM from the summit.
The public is also advised not to carry out activities at a distance of 500 meters from the riverbank along Besuk Kobokan because of the potential to be hit by expanding hot clouds and lava flows up to a distance of 17 KM from the summit.
PVMBG also asked the public to be aware of the potential for hot cloud avalanches, lava avalanches, and lava along rivers that disgorge at the top of Mount Semeru.
