Indonesia Hosts F1 Powerboat, Lake Toba Goes Global

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Indonesia received chairmanship of the super fast boat racing event or F1H2O (F1 Powerboat) from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday (16/12). 

The handover will be held after the 2022 Road to Sharjah Grandprix of Middle East competition which will end on Sunday (18/12/2022). 

The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Zainudin Amali, directly received the chairmanship of the F1H2O from the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority of Sharjah State, Mr. Khalid Al-Midfa.

Also present at the occasion was the Regent of Toba, Poltak Sitorus. 

Menpora Amali revealed that this event is planned to be held in Lake Toba, North Sumatra on 24-26 February 2023. 

"FIH2O is the Powerboat World Championship organized by Union Internationale Motonautique and sponsored by H2O, so it is called F2H2O," said Menpora Amali in a release.

"This championship is the highest class in the Powerboat race which also bears the name F1 like car racing," he said.

In the handover ceremony for Indonesia as the host of the 2023 F1 Power Boat on Lake Toba, foreign media were also present, especially from Italy and Arab countries.

They started echoing the name "Toba Lake, Toba Lake" as the venue for the competition activities later.

Thus, he continued, this would encourage Indonesia, especially the central and regional governments, especially the people around Toba to prepare themselves to meet the expectations of tourists who are also Formula 1 Power Boat spectators.

"Tourists will not only watch the match, but will enjoy the tourist environment more," he said. 

According to Amali, preparations will continue to be accelerated so that foreign and local spectators will feel at home visiting, or even plan to return to Lake Toba.
