TRIBUNBATAM.id - Recently, issue of water crisis continues to make Batam residents afraid.
Citizens worries became even worse after Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Hang Nadim Station in Batam predicted low rainfall from February to the end of March 2020.
This condition did not escape the spotlight of many parties.
One of them is a member of Batam Council (DPRD) Commission III, Thomas Arihta Sembiring.
According to him, Batam is very dependent on rainfall intensity.
But he stressed, this condition should not make the relevant parties stand silent.

"Don't blame God," he told TribunBatam on Tuesday (10/3/2020).
Thomas said, the absence of innovation actually makes some parties seem to blame natural conditions.
"Speaking about natural factors is certainly outside of forecasts. This condition as a major premise must immediately look for alternatives," he continued.
He continued that innovation could be in the form of using technology to find new sources of water.
So that the water needs for residents are relevant to population growth in Batam.
"The weakness, it has not yet maximized research and development. Even though the laboratory is already in their institution," he regretted.
He asked related parties as guarantor of raw water availability in Batam not to work like firefighters.
"Working when the fire is enlarged and dangerous. But it's better to have an umbrella before it rains, the term is solved from the upstream to the downstream," he concluded. (dna)
