TRIBUNBATAM.id, BINTAN - Local tourists become Bintan's priority when the tourism sector starts to open in the New Normal phase.

As for foreign travelers, Bintan, especially Lagoi area, prioritizes citizens of neighboring countries, Singapore.

"We know that the health protocol in Singapore is great.

So it is not too troublesome and they are also equipped with health certificates from swab and others when leaving the country, "said Head of Tourism and Culture Department (Disparbud) of Bintan Regency, Wan Rudi, Friday (12/06/2020).

He said that he had several times held meetings with Riau Islands Tourism Department and the manager of Lagoi tourism area, discussing the steps in implementing health protocol.

"Lagoi also agreed to implement a health protocol to support the government in efforts to open tourism amid Covid-19 pandemic," he explained.

He also said travelers from Bintan and Tanjungpinang were not required to show health certificates when they wanted to take a trip to Lagoi.

However visitors are required to use a mask and follow the health protocol established by the manager of  tourist area.

"As for local tourists from Batam, they must complete a medical certificate from their place of origin and there must be a swab test result free of Covid-19 virus," he said.

Wan Rudi explained, the district government had also asked the manager of the Lagoi area to prepare infrastructure protocols for health.

One of them is providing a place to wash hands, hand sanitizers and routinely sterilize tourist sites.

In addition he also asked that when operating later, the manager must limit the number of visitors.

"The point must be known how many visitors and how many have ordered.

Likewise with hotels, the capacity used must be 50 percent, not 100 percent, "he explained.
