Nine Largest Import Contributing Countries in Batam City, BPS: Majority in Non-Oil and Gas Sector

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The import value of Batam City in March 2021 exceeded USD1,016.78 million. 

This number was compiled by the Central Statistics Department or Batam BPS with details of oil and gas imports of USD4.19 million and non-oil and gas imports of USD1,012.59 million. 

The import value of Batam City in March 2021 increased by 26 percent compared to February 2021. 

The increase in import value was caused by an increase in the import value of the non-oil and gas sector by 25.64 percent. 

The largest import commodity in Batam City in March 2021 was the result of the manufacturing industry with an import value of USD998.62 million and had a role of 98.18 percent of the total import value. 

When compared with the same month in the previous year, Batam City imports experienced an increase of 43.37 percent, from USD709.18 million to USD1,016.78 million. 

The increase in import value in March 2021 compared to March 2020 was caused by an increase in imports of the non-oil and gas sector by 43.80 percent.

The next category of goods that has a significant role in Batam City's non-oil and gas exports during March 2021 is machinery / mechanical appliances. 

Then animal / vegetable oils and fats, various chemical products, goods from iron and steel, cocoa / chocolate. 

Then optical devices, plastics and plastic goods, vehicles and their parts, and essential oils, perfume cosmetics. 

The largest import of Batam City in March 2021 came from China which reached a value of USD295.83 million. 

Imports from China in March 2021 increased by 26.38 percent compared to the import value of the previous month. 

Other countries supplying imported goods to Batam City in March 2021 that have a significant role include  Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, the Philippines, South Korea, Germany, Thailand and the United States.
