Targeting Toll Road Development of up to 5,000 KM, This is Jokowi's Mandate
Indonesian President, Joko Widodo targets the toll road development for the next 5 years to reach 4,500-5,000 kilometers.
This is in line with President Jokowi's vision and mission during his second term of leadership, which will continue the infrastructure development program.
The target also marks his determination to defeat China in infrastructure development. He said, RI had lagged far behind China in terms of infrastructure development.
He illustrated, RI can only build 780 kilometers of toll roads for 40 years. While development in China has touched 280,000 kilometers.
The massive development brought Indonesia up 30 ranking compared to 2010, and ranked 52nd in terms of infrastructure development.
In the future, he warned, massive infrastructure development must create new jobs for the community as well as a place to absorb local products.
"I remind you, building infrastructure should not use imported products. You have to be able to absorb local products. I remind you, infrastructure development is able to absorb new jobs so as to improve the quality of life of our people," he concluded. (*)
