TRIBUNBATAM.id - High waves in North Natuna waters, Riau Islands Province (Kepri) are predicted to reach 5 meters by Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) Class I Hang Nadim Meteorological Station, Batam.

Not only North Natuna Sea, high waves are predicted to reach 3.5 meters in Anambas Islands Regency waters.

Bintan Regency and Tanjungpinang City waters also have the potential to cause high waves up to 2.5 meters.

The wave height in Lingga Regency is predicted to reach 2 meters.

Then in Batam and Karimun, the wave potential predicted BMKG could reach 1 meter.

"Be aware of high category waves that can reach 3.5 -5.0 meters in North Natuna and Anambas waters.

And medium category waves from 2.0 to 2.5 meters in East Bintan and Lingga territorial waters," said Forecaster on duty Rizky F. Widowati Tuesday (3/12/2019).

He also urged sea transportation and marine activities be alert to the high and medium category waves.

In general, the weather forecast in Riau Islands Province is estimated to be cloudy and local rain with mild to moderate intensity that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

This is due to high air humidity and the presence of wind turn patterns causing concentrated air masses in Riau Islands region.

For air temperatures in Riau Islands range from 23 to 34 degrees Celsius with wind speeds of 5 to 40 kilometers per hour.

While the humidity reaches 65 to 98 percent.
