The presence of third person a.k.a infidelity is one of the factors triggering the high divorce rate in Batam City lately.
This was revealed from various court cases handled by judges in the class 1A court of Batam on the past year.
Head of Public Relations of Class 1 A Religious Court of Batam City, H Barmami said, the number of cases handled in 2019 had increased from the previous year.
He mentioned, many factors triggered the divorce to occur such as economic factors and inter-state marriages.

In Batam, he said, from the cases handled there were divorces from different countries, Singaporeans worked in Batam and married Batam citizens, so they made their wives only temporarily, later when he returned to his country and then divorced.
In 2019, the number of Batam religious court divorce cases received from January 1 to November 29 was 1,947 cases.
Of that amount, divorce is more dominated by the request of woman or wife.
