Welcoming Solar Eclipse, Here's The List of Interesting Events in Tanjungpinang

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Ring Solar Eclipse (GMC) will appear in the sky of Tanjungpinang City at the end of this year, precisely on Thursday, December 26, 2019.

Tanjungpinang City Government (Pemko) is ready to welcome natural phenomena that can only be seen once every hundred years.

Some events will also be held by Tanjungpinang City Culture and Tourism Department (Disbudpar) to enliven GMC Festival in Tanjungpinang City.

GMC Festival will be filled with some ctivities such as falaq and earth science workshops, GMC seminars, creative bazaars, art performances (pensi) school children, live murals, PAUD and kindergarten level coloring competitions, elementary and junior high school level drawing competitions, live music, readings poetry, dangkung dance performances, and door prizes.

Beside that, the observation of eclipses with telescopes and sun glasses, also with telescopes of data and live streaming.

"Public can witness this rare moment at the observation point at Gonggong Building on December 26, starting at 10:00 to 14:00 WIB," explained Head of Tanjungpinang City Disbudpar, Surjadi, Wednesday (11/12/2019).

Not only that, residents can also see this beautiful phenomenon using special binoculars from Bosscha Observatory-Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

But before that, the students will be given education about the earth, sun and moon by Bosscha Observatory-ITB on December 23rd.

"The workshop for students will take place at TCC Mall, while the seminar for students will be held at Aisyah Sulaiman Building," he concluded.

While on (12/25/2019) the event was filled with exhibitions / fairs, school student performance, live music, and on (12/26/2019) there would be live mural, coloring contest, eclipse drawing, and door prize that would take place in the court at barking building.

He mentioned, beside Gonggong Building, Penyengat Island could be used as an option for viewing the ring solar eclipse.

Because the small island that is directly facing Tanjungpinang City is one of the origins for development of astronomy or astrology in Malay culture.

King Ahmad, who wrote a poetical book on astronomy, developed this knowledge on Penyengat Island.

Beside that, in the history of King Ahmad and his book which is located on Penyengat Island also has an important role in predicting the existence of ring solar eclipse that occurred hundreds of years ago.

For information, ring solar eclipse is a natural phenomenon that occurs when the moon passes directly between the earth and the sun, resulting in the shadow of the moon falling on surface of the earth.
