After Wuhan,Government Immediately Evacuate Indonesian Citizens on Diamond Princess Ship in Yokohama

President Joko Widodo continued to receive the latest report on the state of Indonesian citizens in Yokohama, Japan. Here's the details.

At least 500 passengers were allowed to leave after being quarantined for 14 days, following news that there were 542 positive transmissions of the corona virus on board. 

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The government immediately evacuated Indonesian Citizens (WNI) who were on a Diamond Princess cruise ship which currently rests in the waters of Yokohama, Japan, in the near future to return to Indonesia.

Presidential Spokesman, Fadjroel Rachman said, the decision was taken after the government held a technical meeting between the relevant ministries / agencies and the Japanese Government.

"The government will immediately conduct a second phase of humanitarian evacuation from Yokohama (Japan) in the near future after conducting technical meetings with relevant ministries / institutions at home and the Government of Japan, especially abroad," Fadjroel said in a written statement, Saturday (2/22/2020 ). 

Fadjroel said, President Joko Widodo continued to receive the latest report on the state of Indonesian Citizens in Yokohama, Japan.

Jokowi, said Fadjroel, also ordered all domestic parties to prepare for the second phase of humanitarian evacuation from Yokohama (Japan) as well as possible.

"This includes ordering the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy to continue to monitor and communicate with the 78 Indonesian Citizens and complete all the second-stage humanitarian evacuation procedures from Yokohama (Japan) to Indonesia to the government and other authorities in Japan," said Fadjroel.  

Fadjroel said the evacuation of citizens from Yokohama was a continuation of the evacuation of 238 citizens from Wuhan, China, which was then observed in Natuna.

Reportedly, there were 4 Indonesian citizens on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Yokohama waters infected with the Covid-19 virus. The total number of Indonesian citizens who are crew members is 78.

Fadjroel said, four Indonesian citizens who tested positive for the covid-19 virus had been treated very well in hospitals in Japan that met all WHO protocols. (*)
