TRIBUNBATAM.id - Wigetworks Pte Ltd a Singapore-based company that launched marine craft transportation system.
It is estimated, has the potential to be used for island nations such as Indonesia, Philippines, Polynesia, Caribbean and others.
Wigetworks succeeded in making a prototype of 'airplane' under name The Air Fish 8.
Wigetworks Manager Suhartono Setiawan acknowledged that German-based prototype is 17 meters long and 15 meters wide and 4 times faster than ferry or 196 km / hour.
This system requires 500 meter runway and is powered by a 500bhp V8 race car engine with 7 liters of 95 octane fuel which is cheaper than aviation fuel.
The airplane named Airfish 8 (Wigs) is capable of carrying 8 passengers and is currently still in the process of researching the design and construction of larger ship to transport 20 people with target market of middle to upper class tourists.

This was revealed when Wigetworks Pte Ltd visited BP Batam Marketing Center Building to introduce investment opportunities in transportation technology field, last Thursday (2/20/2020)
They welcomed by Head of Public Relations, Promotion and Protocol Bureau Dendi Gustinandar.
During the visit, who were represented by Wigetworks Manager, Suhartono Setiawan and Wigetworks Engineer Koe Han Beng had the opportunity to give an explanation about purpose coming to BP Batam.
Among them are interested in working with Indonesian government.
Suhartono added, Batam is the right choice of location for producing these wigetworks because close to its headquarters in Singapore.
If later all licensing and regulation of Wigetworks Pte Ltd is finished, we can start in Batam with Research & Development (R&D).
From 2020 - 2023 we will focus on R&D with total investment of 1 - 2.5 million USD just for operations.
Then from 2023, we will start the production process with an investment of around 10 million USD.
Not only that, the lean station needed by Wigs can be built very simply, cheaply, even with traditional methods such as wooden docks and plastic pontoons.
The small hull makes it possible to build a docking station covering an area of approximately 3 hectares in cage waters close to the coastline.
Also present at the visit were Head of Sub-Directorate of Land Services and Information, Yarmanis, Head of Subdivision of Investment Services, Wildan Arief, Head of Promotion, Ariastuty Sirait, Commercial Manager of BUBU and ICT, Erik Aditama, and Head of Subdivision of Investor Relations, Afthar Fallahziz.
The visit which lasted for approximately 2 hours was filled with sharing sessions, discussions, questions and answers about how to invest in Batam.
On this occasion, Head of Public Relations, Promotion and Protocol Bureau, Dendi Gustinandar was very enthusiastic and hoped that through this visit Wigetworks Pte Ltd could increase value of Batam's investment by building a research and development site in Batam. (Tribunbatam.id/Roma Uly Sianturi)
