Corona Virus Impact, Tourism Sector Revenue in Batam Down Drastically

Original Local Government Revenue (PAD) of tourism sector in Batam down drastically. The impact of Corona virus spread made tax revenues decreased.

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The impact of Corona virus spread in some countries made tax revenues from hotel, restaurant and entertainment sectors decline.

This was stated by Head of Batam City's Tax and Retribution Management Agency (BP2RD), Raja Azmansyah.

"Corona virus began to affect the decline in Original Local Government Revenue (PAD). We can only see the changes in March.

January to February for hotels, entertainment, restaurants, the difference is minus almost Rp 1.9 billion," Raja said, Monday (24/2) / 2020).

He admitted that the hotel tax reduction reached IDR 1.8 billion from January to February 24, 2020.

For January 2020, the hotel tax reached Rp 13,212,899,598 while the realization of hotel tax until February 24, 2020 reached Rp 11,397,512,008.

The decline in restaurant tax sector reached Rp 1.7 billion from January to 24 February 2020.

For the realization of restaurant taxes during January 2020 reached Rp 11,350,319,199, while for the realization of restaurant taxes up to February 24, 2020 reached Rp 9,675,566,648.

The decline in entertainment tax sector reached Rp 649,322,583 from January to 24 February 2020.

For the realization of entertainment tax during January 2020 reached Rp 3,886,569,565, while the realization of entertainment tax until February 24, 2020 reached Rp 3,237,236,982.

"March is predicted to be even bigger. The decline is due to decreased visits. We hope this condition can be resolved," Raja said.

Batam City Government has done maximum to prevent tax reduction, such as the tourism sector has held many events.

He hopes that national activities can be carried out in Batam.

"If I am not mistaken, there was a meeting of Regional Secretary in Indonesia specially Batam on March.

At least they have told me that Batam is safe from viruses. People in Java that I heard they were worried about travel in Batam because it's close to Singapore.
