Rationing Water in Batam being Postponed, Here's BP Batam's Explanation
The Batam Business Entity (BP) decided to postpone rationing (clean water rotation) until a later date! Here's the details.
TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Batam Business Entity (BP) decided to postpone rationing (clean water rotation) until a later date, based on a special study of the distribution of clean water to all customers currently being carried out by BP Batam.
This was revealed by the Head of BP Batam Promotion and Protocol Public Relations Bureau, Dendi Gustinandar. Previously, it has been said by PT ATB, that the rationing will be carried out starting March 15, 2020.
The decision to postpone rationing was taken by BP Batam so that community and business activities continue to be conducive and better prepared to face rationing if forced to do so.
During the postponement process, BP Batam will make several efforts to increase the availability of raw water, including installing pipelines from Tembesi Dam to Duriangkang Dam and preparation of artificial rain engineering with the Technology Assessment and Application Agency (BPPT).

This is also done considering that the current elevation of the Duriangkang Dam Water Level (TMA) has almost reached the level - 3.19 meters. While the critical point is at elevation TMA -3.4 below the spillway, where if the rain does not go down there will be a decrease of 2 cm per day.
The lack of rainfall in Batam, resulting in shrinking reservoirs which are the backbone of the availability of clean water on the island of Batam. This causes special arrangements for the distribution of clean water to customers.
"ATB received a new instruction from BP Batam, not to rotate on Sunday 15 March 2020, as previously agreed," said ATB Head of Corporate Secretary, Maria Jacobus.
The instructions were sent officially by letter dated March 13, 2020.
According to BP Batam's instructions, rotation will be carried out when the water level in the Duriangkang reservoir has reached -3.4 meters below the overflow building. For information, at present, the water level in the reservoir as of March 13 has reached -3.2 meters below the overflow building.

At present, the water in the reservoir continues to decrease by around 2 cm every day.
According to this assumption, if it does not rain, then there is still time up to the next 14 days before the rotation is carried out.
This instruction is certainly a breath of fresh air for the city of Batam, especially businesses and industries that had felt threatened due to the potential water crisis that lurked Batam.
ATB welcomes this decision, this is because as an operator, ATB must also prepare various matters related to the Duriangkang IPA rotation process which is quite difficult.
ATB appealed to the people of Batam to pray during this period. So that rain falls immediately with sufficient intensity so that elevation of -3.4 meters below the overflow building is not reached. (Tribunbatam.id/Roma Uly Sianturi)
