5 Erick Thohir's Breakthrough in the War Against Corona virus, Here's the Details

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Since President Joko Widodo's announcement in early March, the number of cases of the corona virus or Covid-19 has continued to increase. The latest at this time, the number of corona positive patients has reached 309 people.

The government made various efforts to prevent the virus that originated in Wuhan, China, is widespread in Indonesia. An active effort to handle corona was also carried out by the Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohir.

The former Inter Milan president admitted that the corona outbreak had a negative impact on the economy, including on the company's financials. So that the Ministry of BUMN is deemed necessary to make a number of breakthroughs. 

1. Turn Pertamina's hotel room into an isolation room

Erick plans to change the Patra Comfort Hotel, Jakarta, to accommodate people under surveillance (ODP) related to the corona virus. This was conveyed by a special staff of the Minister of BUMN Arya Sinulingga.

In addition, Pertamina Jaya Hospital will also provide a room for Corona patients. There will be an additional 90 beds and will be equipped with Corona virus detection laboratories, radiology and isolation rooms.

There will also be 10 specialist doctors, 8 general practitioners and 3 trained nurses who hold hospitals and hotels for Corona virus patients. This is an effort to deal with the Corona virus outbreak in Indonesia. 

2. Order 500,000 Corona test kits

Erick has instructed the state-owned company to order hundreds of thousands of Corona virus rapid test kits from China. With this Corona virus test tool, virus checking can be done in bulk. 

Special Staff of the Minister of BUMN, Arya Sinulingga, explained that the rapid test equipment being ordered was like a test pack to check for pregnancy. The results of this test can be obtained in less than three hours. 

Arya ensured, with the rapid test method, the price would be more affordable than the existing tests. However, he could not specify how much the public would cost to buy this tool. 

3. Open volunteer vacancies

Erick invited people to become volunteers for medical and non-medical personnel in the fight against Covid-19. He invited the community to be actively involved in assisting the government in handling the spread of Covid-19.

Erick explained, all elements of the nation must unite against Covid-19. According to him, by working together, Indonesia was able to overcome Covid-19 so that community activities returned to normal. 

4. Understanding the negative performance of BUMN

Erick admitted, the Corona virus outbreak had a negative impact on the economy, including to the state-owned company financials. On that basis, he can accept the consequences if the BUMN company loses this year. 

Nevertheless, Erick will prepare a number of steps so that the BUMN financial condition does not deteriorate. He believes, the Indonesian economy can rise as before. However, this requires time. 

5. Supply Corona virus drug for 60,000 patients

Erick said, currently pharmaceutical BUMNs have prepared drugs for patients exposed to the corona virus. The drug has been used by several countries. He has ordered pharmaceutical BUMNs to expand the stock of the drug.

However, Erick was reluctant to reveal the brand of the drug. Certainly, he said, the drug has been used by several countries. (*)
