Hit by Coronavirus, 4 Hotels in Tanjung Pinang Layoffs the Employees

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Four hotels in Tanjungpinang terminate their employees. From the information, the four hotels include Aston Tanjungpinang Hotel, PT Bintan Pertama Beach Resort, Kaputra Hotel, and Karas Hotel.

The layoffs occurred due to the impact of Covid-19 which made the number of hotel visitors increasingly minimal.

The head of the Tanjungpinang City Cooperatives and Micro-Employment Service Department, Hamalis said, the total number of hotel workers laid off was 28 of the four hotels. 

"Aston Tanjungpinang Hotel is 18 people, Kaputra Hotel is 6 people, PT Bintan Pertama Beach Resort is 3 people, and Karas Hotel is 1 person," he said, Friday (3/4/2020) afternoon.

He conveyed, the latest data at 11:30 WIB, Friday, there were 869 workers who had been laid off due to the impact of Covid-19. 

"For several reasons, the company did the layoffs and laid off the employees because they couldn't afford to pay salaries. Could not issue operations, and guests were also not there," he said.

Meanwhile, a hotel worker who was laid off, Didi said, accepted with resignation over the decision of the hotel where they work. 

According to him, he usually earns Rp 2.9 million per month from working in a hotel. Because of this, Didi had to find another job. The hotel said that it was not a problem when looking for a new job.
