Ministry of Transportation Still Permits Domestic Flights to Transport Passengers Today

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Ministry of Transportation still allows domestic passenger flights to operate until this Friday (4/24/2020). This is to carry out the obligations of airline operators serving passengers with old reservations. But starting today, the Ministry of Transportation will not allow new reservations.

"Given the specific characteristics of the air mode, airline operators are given the opportunity to carry out their obligations to passengers to this day with old reservations while continuing to implement health protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic. Starting today there are no new reservations, "said a spokesman for the Ministry of Transportation Adita Irawati in a press release received by Kompas.com, Friday (4/24/2020).

This was conveyed by Adita concerning Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 25 of 2020 Regarding Transportation Control During the Idul Fitri Homecoming Year 14441 Hijri Covid-19. 

Meanwhile, for international flights continued Adita, it will continue to operate specifically to serve Foreign Citizens who will return to their countries and Indonesian citizens who will return to Indonesia.

But she stressed, the flight must follow health protocols during the Covid 19 pandemic. 

Previously Permenhub number 25 of 2020 was established on April 23, 2020 as a follow up of the Government's policy to ban homecoming this year in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Adita asserted, that the prohibition on the use of transportation for homecoming applies to and out of PSBB areas, the Red Zone of Covid-19 Distribution, and agglomeration that has been designated as PSBB. 

Previously the Ministry of Transportation banned public flights and charters from operating on April 24. This is related to the 2020 Lebaran homecoming ban imposed by the government. (*)
