2 Tanker Ships Ran Aground in Sambu Island Batam Waters, One Iranian Flagged Ship

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Two tanker ship units reportedly ran aground in the waters of Sambu Island, Belakang Padang, Batam City.

The discovery of the two ships was revealed by Head of Batam's Basarnas post, Ronaldi, Monday (05/11/2020) morning.

"There were two ships caught on radar, one Indonesian ship named Samudera Sakti 1 and one belonging to Iran named Tanker Shahraz," Ronaldi said.

The existence of two ships in the waters of Sambu Island was anchored since early morning.

"We suspect a collision, the two ships are so close together," he said.

So to ensure, said Ronaldi, his side coordinated with the team to check.

But after checking, the two tankers ran aground and could not move.

"The team had checked beforehand, the two tankers ran aground while entering the waters of Sambu Island," he said.

He said the two tankers were still waiting for the tide to rise.
